JDS - Love

Hello my crafty friends and welcome back to my blog.

Today's card was quite fun to do as I got to crack open my brand new set of Ohuhu Markers! I have to say that I am quite pleased with how they perform! For the price, you cannot go wrong. They blend very well and the brush tip is very similar to Copic. On top of it, the alcohol smell is way less noticeable. If you want to try alcohol markers and can't spend all your dollars on Copics, I highly recommend Ohuhu. I purchased the 120 set and I am quite pleased with the combos you can do with it.

Now to my card. I am using the brand new stamp set from Jan's Digital Stamps called SpringTime.

I first printed the Bird on some Accent Opaque 80lb cardstock and used the following Ohuhu Markers to color the image:

Blue: B64, PB8, PB7

Yellow: Y6, Y3,GY6

Next step was to create my panels. Here are the colors and dimensions of each pieces of cardstocks:

Stampin Up Granny Apple Green: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and 2 1/2 x 3 1/4 with Distress Oxide Broken China

Stampin Up Pacific Point: 5 1/4 x 4 with Distress Oxide Black Soot and Mowed Lawn

Simon Says Stamp Polka Dot: 5 x 3 3/4 with Distress Oxide Mustard Seed in a blotchy way all over and then Broken China

White Accent Opaque 80lb: 2 1/4 x 3 1/4b with Distress Oxide Broken China

I then stamped and fussy cut the word LOVE and glued each letter 3 times. The same was done with the BIRD. It was then time to assemble each layers and once all that was done, I added some hearts to balance the image on the card.

All letters and the hearts of course also have some sparkle from my SN Clear Sparkle Pen.

And voila, a quick, easy and fun card.

JDS - Flying by to say Hi!

Hello my Crafty Friends,

Today's DT card for Jan's Digital Stamps was quite fun to do. 

Flying by to say Hi!

I first started by inking seven different cardstock with my Distress Oxide Inks to create my Rainbow. Below are the inks I used:

Pink: Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberries

Red: Candied Apple

Orange: Carved Pumpkin

Yellow: Mustard Seed

Green: Mowed Lawn

Blue: Blue Print Sketch

Purple: Seedless Preserves

I then proceeded to die cut seven rainbows using the Trinity Stamps Slimline Rainbow Builder Die Set and used one piece of each color to create the perfect Rainbow. 

Next step was to die cut my Clouds and to ink my Sky. To do so, I used one of the cloud piece with Distress Oxide Salty Ocean and a Blender Brush to ink clouds here and there on my Accent Opaque 80lb Panel.

For my Hot Air Balloon, I printed this beautiful digital stamp from JDS store called up-UP-AWAY! and colored the image with the following Copic and SN:

Balloon and Basket Fabric - V09, V06, V04

Ribbon - YG95, YG93, YG03

Sweater - IG3, B21, BG01, B000

Overall Pants - IG5, YG95, YG93, YG03

Basket - E37, E35, E37

Skin - E04, E11, E02, E000

Helmet - IG5, IG3, IG1

I have to confess that it was a challenge to color my image as most of my Copics are dry but I managed to mix different shades and for some miracle, my Green lasted until I was done so it all turned out ok.

I then assembled my card and cut my panel to 8 1/4 x 3 1/4 and glued it on a 8 1/2 x 7 top folding cardbase scored at 3 1/2.

The last step was to glue my sentiment.

Hello Sunshine

To create this card, I first printed the Lighthouse from Sweet n Sassy on 4 x 5 ¼ NeenahSolar White 80lb Cardstock. I then drew the rocks to make it look like the light house is on a cliff and printed the bird called Ahoy, Matey! from Whimsy Stamps.

I created the sky using a blender brush and Broken China Distress Oxide and for the Sea, I used Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch. The white foam was created with my White Gelly Roll pen.

Here is how I colored the images with my Copics and Spectrum Noir:

Grey for Bird and Lighthouse: W00, W1, W3

Aqua for Bird and Lighthouse: BG11, BG13, BG18

Beak and Feet: Y18, E33

Rocks: IG1, IG3, IG5

Grass: YG03, YG93, YG95

To make the card pop, I mounted the panel on 2 pieces of 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 Black Cardstock and glued everything on a top folding 5 ½ x 4 ¼ Accent Opaque 100lb Cardbase.

JDS - Wild Flower Blossom

Hello my crafty friends, this is Mel Sanz from In a Crafty Mood!

Today’s card showcases another lovely stamp from Jan’s Digi Stamps called Wild Flower Blossoms. This wonderful digital set comes with both b/w and pre-colored images along with several sentiments like “Happiness blooms from within” and “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow” just to mention a few.

When I first saw this stamp I automatically knew that I wanted the outline of the flower in White which normally I would have Stamped with Versamark and Heat Embossed with White Embossing Powder but in this case, since the image is digital, I could not do that. Instead, I sized and printed the image on copy paper and placed a piece of Lawnfawn Vellum Paper on top. Since it’s see through, I was then able to trace the image with my Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen which was perfect.

I then colored my image with Copic Markers : 

Purple Flower – V09, V06, V04

Blue Flower – BG18, BG13, BG11

Center of Flowers – Y18

Stems – YG95, YG93, YG03

As always, I could not resist adding some sparkle so all the petals are covered with a thin layer of Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen.

I then cut the Vellum and glued it to a 2 3/4 x 4 Lawn Fawn No. 2 Pencil  Cardstock from the "Schoolyard" collection  which I had previously inked with “Candied Apple” Distress Oxide to make it stand out a little more.

To add some interest to the card, I wanted to add a pop of color so I created my own “Pattern Paper” background by drawing some white leaves with my gel pen on a piece of 3 3/4 x 5 Hero Hues Premium Cardstock in Lapis Color. Each leaf were then colored with YG95 and YG93. To add a nice finishing touch, more Glitter to the leaves was needed and of course some "Blue Print Sketch" Distress Oxides for the sides.

This beautiful background was then mounted on a 4 x 5 panel which was again made from the same "No. 2 Pencil" Cardstock. As always, the sides were inked with some "Candied Apple" Distress Oxide.

As usual, to make my layers pop, I added dimensions behind each panel by inking the sides of some scrap pieces of cardstock to match the color. I love this technique better than using fun foam or foam tape as it reuses cardstock that would otherwise have gone to the trash.

I then glued the entire card on a 4 ¼ x 5 ½ top folding white Neenah Classic Crest 110lb cardbase. Since a sentiment would have covered the pretty flowers, I decided to leave the card as is.

And this completes this lovely and colorful card.
